15-minute Consultation: $0
In this consultation, we will briefly discuss what you’re looking for, what I offer, and whether my services may be a good fit.
50-minute individual session: $250
Sliding scale for 50-minute individual session: $150 - $225
I reserve a portion of my practice for sliding scale clients to make therapy more accessible to clients who need reduced-fee options, while still honoring the value of the work and the expertise I bring. Fees are based on the local market and reflect my training, experience, and specialization.
Session fees are discussed during the initial consultation. Payment is due at the time of service. Fees are reviewed periodically to reflect market conditions, cost of living, and clinician sustainability.
Payments are handled securely through the HIPAA-compliant SimplePractice Client Portal, where you can store a credit, debit, FSA, or HSA card for convenient AutoPay or manual payments. You may also pay through secure email/text payment links or by connecting a bank account through Stripe.
I believe your care should be guided by your needs and goals, rather than by insurance limitations or requirements, which is why my practice is self-pay and out-of-network.
If your insurance plan includes out-of-network benefits, you may be eligible for partial reimbursement of your session fees. I can provide a monthly statement, often called a “superbill,” that you can submit directly to your insurance company. I do not submit claims or communicate with your insurance company on your behalf, so you will be responsible for submitting the superbill and following up with your insurer.
Before your first session, I encourage you to contact your insurance provider to ask about your out-of-network benefits, including:
Whether you have an out-of-network deductible and how much you have remaining
What percentage of psychotherapy with a licensed psychologist is covered
Whether there are limits on the number of sessions or diagnoses covered
How your insurance company determines the amount it will reimburse
It is also important to know that insurance companies often base reimbursement on an “allowable” or “usual and customary” fee that may be lower than my fee. This means you may not be reimbursed for the full amount of your session, even after meeting your deductible.
Diagnosis codes are shared with your insurance company only after treatment has begun.
What does the reimbursement process look like?
You pay my full fee at the time of your session.
I send you a superbill each month.
You submit the superbill to your insurance company.
Your insurance company processes the claim according to your out-of-network benefits.
If you have an out-of-network deductible, the amount may be applied toward your deductible rather than reimbursed to you.
Once you have met your deductible, your insurance company may reimburse you for a portion of the allowed amount.
Because my practice is self-pay and out-of-network, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate that will detail the expected cost of your care.
After our initial consultation, we’ll talk about whether you are eligible for one of my limited sliding-scale spots. Based on that conversation and the fee we agree on, I will provide you with a written Good Faith Estimate outlining the expected cost of your therapy.
You can also request a Good Faith Estimate at any time if you would like one. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to dispute the bill. I recommend keeping a copy of your estimate for your records.
Appointments canceled or rescheduled with less than 24 hours’ notice are charged the full session fee, since your appointment time is reserved specifically for you and usually cannot be filled on short notice. I understand that unexpected things happen, and I may make exceptions at my discretion, particularly for illness or emergencies. There is no charge for appointments canceled or rescheduled at least 24 hours in advance, although more notice is always appreciated.
